No.1 Martin Place has achieved a 4.5 Star NABERS energy rating and 3.5 Star NABERS Water and has a commitment to continually improving environmental performance. We have invested in upgrades to the central chilled water plant with new technology for improved thermal comfort and indoor air quality.

TRANSPORT

TRAIN - Be at Wynyard or Martin Place in two minutes and St James in four. 

BUS - The Queen Victoria Building and Wynyard bus exchanges are moments away and key routes running along nearby Elizabeth and Castlereagh Streets.

LIGHT RAIL - The Wynyard stop is located right outside for trams to Chinatown, Surry Hills, Randwick and Kingsford.

FERRY - Just an eight-minute walk takes you to nearby Circular Quay, where you can hop on a ferry to get to most parts of Sydney Harbour day and night.

CAR - If you prefer to drive in, the address is a breeze to access from every direction with four levels of underground parking available on site.

CYCLE - Take the nearby cycleway to work and park downstairs. There’s basement storage for 132 bicycles, plus change rooms with showers and lockers.

HISTORY

Today a graceful blend of past and present, No.1 Martin Place is one of the city’s most famous buildings.

Headquarters to the Sydney General Post Office until 1996, the original building was designed in the Italian Renaissance style and built between 1866 and 1891.

Transformed in 1999, the site now features a contemporary A-grade office tower juxtaposed against the historic GPO. The award-winning design preserved the elegant street-level colonnade, impressive sandstone façade and the famous clock tower while adding light-filled interiors and a five-star hotel to create Sydney’s most unique workplace.

Highly commended for the Heritage Award in 2001, the building won the Property Council of Australia Rider Hunt Award and the Australian Property Institute Development Award.
